Xi You Ji Golden Journey on SKY777: A Journey to the West Ring Game, Not a Slot

Xi You Ji (西游记) is Journey to the West, and "Golden Journey" in the SKY777 lobby is not a slot. It is an arcade-style ring game: a loop of character tokens runs around the edge of the screen, you bet on the ones you think will be picked, and a light runs round the ring to decide. If you arrive expecting reels, this is the thing to know first.

The ring

At the top of the screen is a temple gate labelled 南天门 (Nan Tian Men, the South Gate of Heaven). From it, a ring of round tokens loops down over a cloudy mountain. Each token shows one of four characters, framed in a coloured border:

• Monkey King (Sun Wukong) with his gold headband
• the Bull Demon with a nose ring
• a blue-faced demon
• a purple-haired girl

There are also three lettered tokens, B, T and P. The screen does not spell them out; the letters suggest Banker, Tie and Player as in baccarat, so check Game Help before betting on them.

A round

During a draw the ring turns grey and Monkey King rides a cloud across the middle while the light travels. In the screenshot above, Total Bet is 1.00 and the balance has dropped to 40.44 from 41.44 before the result.

The result board

After the draw a Game Result board lists every character in three rows, each row a different colour, with a number next to each and your bet underneath. The numbers are highest for Monkey King (50, 33 and 37) and lowest for the girl (9, 4 and 5); B and P show 2, and T shows 8. They look like the payout multiples for that round.

Here the 1.00 bet was on the blue-faced demon in the middle row, marked 12. The board says You Win, and the Win box reads 12.00.

Controls

Along the bottom: a history button, a chip selector (set to 1), Last Result, Clear Spot, Clear All and a blue New button. The betting screen also shows Rebet and Confirm. Settings, as elsewhere on SKY777, holds Balance, Game Help, Bet History and sound toggles.

Who it suits

Players who like lucky-wheel games and want to choose their own odds: Monkey King pays the most and lands the least, the girl the reverse. Spread small chips rather than one big bet, and use Last Result sparingly, because past draws do not predict the next one.
