Fish Prawn Crab is the dice game most Malaysians first see at Chinese New Year, played with a mat and a bowl. It is also known as Hoo Hey How. The 3Win8 version keeps the familiar look: a blue-and-white porcelain bowl comes down over a plate, three dice rattle underneath, and the bowl lifts to show the result.
The dice and the symbols
Each of the three dice carries the same six pictures: fish, prawn, gourd, coin, crab and rooster. The board is split into areas for different bets, and the payouts are printed on each area.
Every bet on the 3Win8 board
Single symbol (bottom row, the big tiles). You pick one symbol. The payout depends on how many dice show it:
- on one die: 1:1
- on two dice: 2:1
- on three dice: 3:1
If none of the dice show it, you lose the bet.
Two Dice, 5:1 (the long middle row of pairs). You pick two different symbols, say fish and crab. Both have to appear in the roll. The game guide calls this a Duo.
Each Double, 10:1 (the side boxes). One symbol has to appear on at least two of the three dice.
Triple, 180:1 (the boxes next to Any Triple). A named symbol on all three dice, for example three crabs.
Any Triple, 30:1 (centre box). All three dice show the same symbol, whichever it is.
How often each bet lands
These are the true chances with three fair six-sided dice, so you can see what the payouts are pricing in:

Every bet on the board pays less than its fair price. That is how the game makes money, and no staking plan changes it.
Buttons and the result display
The chip in the middle of the bottom bar (1.00 in the screenshots) is your bet unit. Clear removes your chips, Rebet repeats the last layout, and Deal starts the roll. After the roll, the winning areas light up. In the last screenshot the dice came out prawn, gourd, gourd: the gourd double, the prawn-and-gourd pair and both single tiles are highlighted. A History tab on the right edge lists earlier rolls.
Playing it sensibly
Stick to one or two areas per roll and a chip that lets you play a long session. Covering several single symbols at once only feels safer; you pay for every symbol that misses. The 180:1 triple is a lottery ticket and should be sized like one.

No bet is safe, but a single symbol hits most often: your symbol appears on at least one die in roughly 42% of rolls. The house edge on it is still there, it is just spread over more frequent, smaller results.
What is the difference between Each Double and Two Dice?
Each Double (10:1) is one symbol showing on at least two dice. Two Dice (5:1) is two different symbols, like fish and crab, both showing in the same roll.
