Live Hi-Lo on NTC33: How the Card-Guessing Game Prices Every Bet
A live dealer turns one card at a time and you bet on the next: Higher, Lower or Snap. The payouts change with every card, so read them before each bet.

Hi-Lo on NTC33 is a live table game run by a dealer at a blue half-moon table. One card is face up. You bet on the next card: Higher, Lower or the same rank (Snap). It is about as simple as a casino game gets, but the payouts move with every card, which is the part worth understanding.
The old version of this page described Hi-Lo split-pot poker. That is a different game entirely; this one has nothing to do with poker hands.
The table and the deck
Printed across the felt is a strip of card ranks: 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 J Q K A. There is no 10. The current card's rank is highlighted on the strip, and the shoe sits to the dealer's left. Under the strip are the betting areas, and the corner panel shows the limits: Min RM5, Payout limit RM5,000.
When betting opens, the view switches to a large betting layout with the dealer's video shrunk to a strip across the top and a countdown next to the dealer's name.
How the main bets are priced
The payouts are shown as multipliers of your stake (x2.31 returns RM11.55 on a RM5 chip, stake included). They change with the card:

With an 8 showing, five ranks beat it (9, J, Q, K, A) and six are below it (2 to 7), so Lower is the likelier result and pays less. With a 7, the counts flip and so do the prices.
Side bets
The right-hand panel stays the same every round:
- Ace: x11.56
- K or A: x5.78
- Black card or Red card: x1.92 each
- 2-3-4-5, 6-7-8-9 or J-Q-K-A: x2.89 each
With 12 ranks on the strip, each four-rank group covers a third of the deck, and x2.89 is a little under the fair x3. Higher, Lower and the other side bets follow the same pattern: Ace at x11.56 against a fair x12, red or black at x1.92 against x2, Higher on an 8 at x2.31 against x2.4. That small gap is the house edge.
The collect and bet buttons
Along the bottom are the chips (5, 10, 25, 100, 250, 1K, 5K), Bet Some and Bet All, then Clear, Collect All and Collect Some. These let you carry some or all of a win onto the next card or bank it. Rolling everything forward is how a small win becomes a large one, and also how it disappears in one wrong call.
In the screenshots the balance drops from RM37 to RM32 as a RM5 bet goes on, and reads RM27 a few cards later. Hi-Lo is quick, so decide in advance how many cards you will play and when you will collect.

Questions players ask
Why do the Higher and Lower payouts change in Hi-Lo?
They are priced from the current card. With an 8 showing, Higher pays x2.31 and Lower x1.92. With a 7, it flips: Higher x1.92 and Lower x2.31. The more ranks on your side, the lower the payout.
What is Snap?
A bet that the next card has the same rank as the current one. It is shown at x12.06 in the screenshots.
