Ocean King on Mega888: How the Fish Shooting Table Works

Ocean King is the game that made fish shooting, or tembak ikan, a fixture in Malaysian casino apps, and the Mega888 version is the familiar arcade layout: a big shared tank, a cannon for each player and a stream of fish swimming through. It feels like a video game, but every shot costs credits, so it is worth knowing what the screen is telling you before you start firing.

The table and your seat

There are four seats, two along the top edge and two along the bottom. Each seat has:

• A cannon in the middle of a brass mount.
• A cannon value in a round dial (10 or 20 in the screenshots), with minus and plus keys either side to change it.
• A credit counter in a coloured bar: red, yellow, blue or purple depending on the seat.

The top seats are upside down because the game is designed for a physical table with players on both sides. Empty seats show 请投币 ("please insert coin").

Lock, Switch and Auto

Three round buttons sit on the right edge:

• Lock: keeps your aim on one chosen fish until it is caught or leaves.
• Switch: changes the type of cannon or target, depending on the version; tap it once to see what it does in yours.
• Auto: fires continuously.

Auto plus a high cannon value is the quickest way to empty a balance. Use it sparingly.

Fish and bosses

Small fish (yellow fish, lionfish, puffers, turtles, manta rays) swim in shoals and are cheap to catch. The big ones announce themselves:

• A golden fire dragon that sweeps across the whole screen. In one screenshot a catch shows 1431 with the words 狂暴火龙 ("raging fire dragon").
• A green giant crocodile, introduced by a banner reading 史前巨鳄 来袭 ("prehistoric giant crocodile incoming").
• A merman with a trident, riding with the crocodile.

Catches flash their value as large gold numbers (457 and 300 appear in the screenshots). The scene changes between rounds, from a purple crystal cave to a blue seabed to a red lava tunnel.

Playing it without losing track

Fish games reward patience rather than aim. Keep the cannon at its lowest value, avoid Auto, and watch how fast your credit counter drops before you go after a boss. No firing pattern beats the built-in house edge.
