Monkey Story in Playboy Casino (Play8oy): A First Round Walked Through Screen by Screen

Monkey Story in the Playboy Casino (also written Play8oy) app is a light-ring game with a Journey to the West cast. There are no reels. A ring of round character portraits frames the screen, a light runs around it, and you bet on where it stops. Here is one round from start to finish, the way you will meet it the first time.

1. The wait screen

Between rounds you see a "Wait For Next Round" banner across the middle and a round number in the corner (38271280 when we opened it). The bottom bar only has three controls: a chip button (10), Rebet, and Confirm, plus Total Play and Win.

2. The betting board

When the round opens, a grid appears with twelve character tiles in three colour rows (red, green, yellow). The characters are Sun Wukong in his golden circlet, a child with twin hair buns, a green-faced figure, and a horned bull-faced demon. Each tile shows its odds for that round; in ours Wukong was 35 red, 31 green and 46 yellow, the child 17 and 15, the green figure 10 and 9, the bull 6 and 5.

The right-hand column holds three side bets, B at 2, T at 8 and P at 2. The strip along the top records past results as a letter above a portrait, and "No. 1-1" in the corner looks like a shoe-and-round counter.

We put one 10 chip on the red child at 17 and pressed Confirm; "Bets sent Successfully" came up and Total Play read 10.

3. The battle

Betting closes and the ring lights up. Sun Wukong flies across on his cloud, and a small duel card shows two characters facing off. These cut-scenes are the "battles" the rules mention.

4. The result

The light stopped on the bull demon, framed in a gold medallion with a 6 above and below, and a P marker on the right for the side bet. The 10 on the child lost.

5. The bonus rules

The help screen explains two extras:

• More Bonus: extra battles between the characters "with big prize".
• Match Bonus (top centre of the screen): when the lights stop, anyone who bet on the matching symbol can win it. It is split by stake: a bet up to 20% of the table maximum takes 50% of the bonus; up to 40% takes 100%.

That second rule matters on a small budget. Minimum-chip players only get part of the Match Bonus, so it is not worth raising your stake to qualify unless you were going to bet that much anyway.
